Literature Text

Nation-States and Capitalism
evoke a quiet sense of rebellion in the people
in front of the flag,
a flag too small to cover up the lies
of the teleprompter on the other side.

The flag that is like water,
and shows what goes on when the curtain closes
and the lights go down.

But we see it.
you may not
you may think that there is nothing to see.
but we know,
oh Lord do we know.
And when the days of
"This is what i was talking about"
and
"I told you so"
become our holidays,
our holy days,
our every days,
we will know that we had been right all along.

but as for now
we will lie in wait
not bothering anymore
to convince the masses,
sway the crowds,
blow the whistle,
be the rat in the pipes,
the rust on the structure.

And the knowing evokes a quiet,
oh so quiet,
smugness;

that isn't wrong at all.
Got the inspiration from my social studies homework of all places...haha
